How the Outdoor Hour Challenges will work for Autumn 2011
1. There will be a Handbook of Nature Study Newsletter on the first of every month. It will be free to download and will be available to subscribers of this blog only (starting with the October issue of the newsletter). The HNS Newsletter will be a companion to the Outdoor Hour Challenges that will be posted on this blog and will include all of the features you have come to love: nature study suggestions, notebook pages, coloring pages, nature study grids, nature journal tutorials, articles and reviews from participants, and other goodies as they are available.
2. There will be ten new Outdoor Hour Challenges that will post on Fridays just like before starting on September 9, 2011. These challenges will be centered on the Handbook of Nature Study. There will NOT be a Mr. Linky in the Friday posts. We will continue to use the monthly Outdoor Hour Challenge Blog Carnival format to share our nature study with each other within the community. The OHC Carnival will post on the last day of each month.
3. The new More Nature Study With The Outdoor Hour Challenge ebook will gather the ten Outdoor Hour Challenges into one place and will allow you to have all ten at your fingertips at the beginning of the season. The ebook will have all the features you have come to love: instructions for each challenge, notebook pages, journal ideas, coloring pages, and links.
New with this ebook is the addition of Advanced Follow-Up options and Upper Level Notebook Pages for your middle and high school age students. These will build up the OHC to accommodate advanced nature study while still offering appropriate nature study for your younger students. This ebook also has a list of suggested Charlotte Mason style exam questions to include at the end of the term for your older student to narrate their nature study experiences. I will be using these additional features with my high school age son. See a sample and the Newsletter Special Offer below!
