Next Thursday (24th November), Wellcome Library Research Officer Ross MacFarlane will be giving a talk at the Florence Nightingale Museum. Flo-Motion: Nightingale in Wellcome Sound and Vision will explore audio visual material from the Library's collections which have a connection to the life and legacy of Florence Nightingale.From the starting point of a recording of Nightingale's voice, the talk will examine the fascinating origins of this historic audio recording and reveal the curious connection between Nightingale, Henry Wellcome and the dawn of television. The talk will also feature films showing the treatment of injured soldiers from both World Wars and Public Health films from the 1940s.
