Queen Mary, University of London, will be hosting the 2012 Society for the Social History of Medicine's Biennial conference on the theme of 'Emotions, Health and Wellbeing'.
The conference, run in association with Queen Mary's Centre for the History of Emotions, will take place at QMUL's Mile End campus from 10-12 September, and will feature a packed programme of presentations with plenaries from Professor Mark Jackson (Exeter), Professor Joanna Bourke (Birkbeck) and Professor William Reddy (Duke).

The Wellcome Library will be represented by Senior Archivist Dr Lesley Hall, speaking on ‘Sentimental follies’ or ‘instruments of tremendous uplift’? Contrasting views of women’s same-sex relationships in interwar Britain, whilst Academic Engagement Officer Ross MacFarlane will present on Blue beads, barrow boys, and bronchitis: negotiating the emotions in Edward Lovett’s folklore collection.
