The lecture series was established in 2003 in memory of Professor Roy Porter, eminent historian of medicine, science and the Enlightenment. A prolific author, Roy produced more than 200 books on a wealth of subjects before his death in 2002, including histories of geology, madness and psychiatry, the Enlightenment and a social history of London.
The lecture, entitled 'Creative Disabililty and the Shaking Palsy: Approaching a history of Parkinson's Disease' will take place at 18.30 on Wednesday 23 May at Wellcome Collection. A reception will follow in the Wellcome Library at 19.30.
Tickets must be booked in advance by emailing Tracy Tillotson (t.tillotson@wellcome.ac.uk) or by calling 020 7611 8486.
